It takes leaders to sustain vibrant and progressive communities.
Leadership Baltimore County, founded in 1983, prepares talented people to actively engage in making Baltimore County a better place to live work and play by serving in
leadership in community nonprofits and government commissions or boards.

Here's how Leadership Baltimore County works:

  • Competitively selected class of ~40 participants from the business, government, nonprofit and educational sectors each year
  • Two-day, overnight Opening Retreat followed by monthly day-long sessions held from September to June
  • Self-directed, experiential activities that shine light on Baltimore County’s challenges and issues, such as:

o    economic development

o    public safety

o    social services

o    education

o    county and state government

o    health

  • Field visits and activities to explore the impact of issues on the community and people's daily lives such as police ride-alongs, shadowing a school principal, working at a shelter and enjoying cultural events
  • Interaction with policy setters and decision makers
  • Examination of the role leaders play in finding solutions to critical challenges

Leadership Baltimore County puts you in touch with high-impact people.

LBC provides a unique opportunity to bring together participants from prominent large and small businesses, education, nonprofits, government, and community agencies to learn and understand each other’s different perspective on any given topic. Speakers include noted subject matter experts and county and state officials. Networking opportunities abound, including a membership of 1100 business and community leaders, CEOs and senior managers.  Dues-paying alumni continue to be engaged through power breakfast seminars, leader luncheons, behind-the-scenes tours and other educational, networking and just plain fun events.
